DoDEA AttendanceStudents are expected to regularly attend and participate in the MHS Online classroom. Students who do not follow attendance procedures may be withdrawn from class.Attendance is defined by evidence that a student has logged into class, submitted an assignment, or interacted with a class group within any continuous 48 hour period. We receive daily attendance data online. Attendance PolicyUnless otherwise approved by the teacher, each student must login daily to their online summer school classes. Any student who does not login within any continuous 48 hour period is considered absent. If this absence continues for more than 72 hours, the student may be automatically withdrawn. Attendance Tracking & MonitoringStudent attendance is tracked by the course software, teachers and the MHS Online Guidance Office. Although students are required to login daily, they are allowed a 48 hour window of opportunity to participate prior to being officially recorded as absent from class. If a student fails to login within 48 hours, the instructor emails the student a copy of the MHS Online Attendance Policy and Guidelines and directs the student to immediately verify their intentions to attend and participate in class. If the student does not respond to this email and continues to be absent for a continuous 72 hour period (without teacher approval), the teacher/and or an academic counselor will email and telephone the parents to confirm the student's intent. If neither the student nor the parent responds within the next 24 hours, the student will be withdrawn from class. Attendance ReportingAny student who fails to login within any continuous 48 hours period is reported as absent to the MHS Online Central Office and MHS Online Guidance Office. Students who continue to be absent for any continuous 72 hour period (or more) without teacher approval are reported as being absent to the MHS Online Central Office, MHS Online Guidance Office, and home school guidance counselor (or contracting office) with notification of intent to withdraw the student.
